The Great Gatsby is rich with symbolism (or so my English teacher told me) and being a frog version has made little difference.
This is a painting of Daisy Buchanan. A frog doing what she must to do well in the world as a woman. A frog characterized by how people see her instead of who she truly is, Daisy is bordered by two gold mirrors. She also has the key to life below her in the form of a purse decorated almost as much as her. Within these symmetrical and necessary things to her life are also touches of who she wants to be. The silk scarves represent the scene where Daisy has an emotional moment after having fun with Gatsby as he floats expensive fabrics down to her.
This piece is made with ink fineliner pens and watercolour on 8x10 inch 140 lb watercolour paper. It also features touches of gold shimmery ink.
